Dear Friends and Supporters,
DANCE PHILIPPINES Performing Arts Company, Inc. (DPPAC) will
be presenting “Hiyas ng Pilipinas”, a two-hour extravaganza
of Philippine folk dances, songs, music and costumes. The event
will be held on the evening of June 21, 2003 at the Casey Theatre
at the Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.
DANCE PHILIPPINES is a non-profit organization composed of professional
Filipino-American volunteers from the Boston area drawn together
generally by their love for dancing but most specifically by the
spirit and character of Filipino folk dance. Its mission is to
preserve, present and promote the richness and diversity of Philippine
culture through music, costumes and dance.
Proceeds from the show will benefit Bagong Kulturang Pinoy (BKP),
a non-profit organization promoting love of reading among children
in low-income communities in the Philippines by establishing and
maintaining mini-libraries and read-aloud programs. BKP’s
goal is to supplement the instruction of very young children in
reading and fluency in English, two basic skills in building a
better future for oneself. For more information about BKP, please

The show will also benefit and jumpstart DPPAC’s “SAYAW
PAMBATA” Program, the company’s folk dance group for
children ages 5 through 17. The junior program not only provides
our young children their cultural identity but also gives them
the opportunities to learn, present and keep the cultural heritage,
which their parents have worked hard to continue and maintain.
The presentation is set to attract the patronage of Filipino-Americans
in Boston and its surrounding communities including Rhode Island
and New Hampshire who support the ideals of DPPAC and BKP. May
